Purpose:
Effective REALTOR® Associations require an informed membership and leaders who understand and can anticipate the existing and future needs of the Association. The IVAR Leadership Program provides REALTORS® the insight and tools needed to help lead IVAR through an ever-evolving real estate landscape.
Who Should Apply?
IVAR REALTOR® and Affiliate members who have an interest in getting involved in leadership at the local or state level are encouraged to apply. Previous leadership experience is not required.
Time Commitment
The 2021 Leadership Academy will include three classes.

- Meeting 2: September 24th, Friday, 9:30 am – 11:00 am
- Meating 3: October 1st, Friday, 9:30 am – 11:00 am

Program Requirements & Timeline
MEETING 1: September 17th, Friday, 9:00 am – 11:30 am
The REALTOR® Association World
Whether you’re new to IVAR or an experienced agent, this course will give you the necessary tools and understanding to make your REALTOR® leadership experience positive and rewarding. This course provides a comprehensive overview to give you the background and resources you need to pursue a leadership role with a REALTOR® association or a nonprofit board.
MEETING 2: September 24th, Friday, 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Community Involvement – Guest speakers to include local community leaders with REALTOR® ties
As real estate professionals, our efforts fostering home ownership and property rights extends broadly to building better communities and regions. This session will focus on the benefits and role of community volunteerism and civic participation that may not be directly REALTOR® related. For example, serving your community as a planning or parks commissioner, serving on a non-profit board of directors, or volunteering with non-profit groups such as Feeding America or Habitat for Humanity.
MEETING 3: October 1st, Friday, 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Government Affairs & Public Policy – Guest speakers to include local elected leaders
As a heavily regulated industry, the role for REALTOR® government affairs and public policy advocacy has never been more in demand. This session will focus on the various tools and resources available to REALTOR® associations and the need for supporting “REALTOR® Party” initiatives and candidates.
